How to Reach: Delhi – Manali – Rohtang La – Kunzum La - Kaza
Highlights: The fact that "Spiti" means "The Middle Land", i.e. The Land between Tibet and India, would give you a fair amount of idea about the topography. This enigmatic high altitude cold desert valley will give you the ultimate adrenalin rush!
Day 1: Chandigarh
Arrival at Chandigarh. Explore the city beautiful in the evening and after that you will be given the briefing about the trip ahead. Overnight stay at Chandigarh.
Day 2: Chandigarh to Narkanda (200kms) We start early in the morning to travel to the Himalayan town of Narkanda. We will also pass the capital city of Himachal along the way. The camping area lies inside the Himalayan Jungle right close to the Hatu peak which stands at 3400m above sea level. Evening acclimatization walk and Overnight stay in Camps.
Day 3: Narkanda – Chitkul (200kms) Long drive waits, so we start very early. The most happening and picturesque day as we will be visiting mesmerizing Sangla Valley. Chitkul is the last village in Sangla valley. We will be pitching tents here as well.
Day 4: Chitkul – Tabo (75kms) Today we will visit the capital city of Kinnaur district Recong Peo and then we move on towards the Spiti valley. We also pass the beautiful and lonely town of Nako. Himachal part of Movie “Highway” was totally shot along this route. We enter Spiti district after passing Nako. Overnight stay in Guest house/ Hotel.
Day 5: Tabo – Mudd - Kaza (200kms) Tabo to Kaza road will the most happening route of this trip as you will see drastic change in the geographical features. Green mountains will change into rocky ones and then to cold deserts. We will start early so that we can fully enjoy the route and places such as Nako, Tabo Monastery. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 6: Kaza Local Today we will visit world famous Key Monastery. If time and weather permits we will visit Kibber village which is the one of highest inhabited villages in the world. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 7: Kaza – Chandrataal (80kms) We believe that the best place should be left for the last. So, fellow riders start your bike and rush along Kunzum pass to one of the most serene places on earth (Moon Lake, Chandrataal). Do whatever you want to do, take a stroll around the lake, take a dip in the cold water, take photographs or just enjoy the beautiful view of Mother Nature. Overnight Stay in tents.
Day 8: Chandrataal – Manali (120kms) After breakfast, we will drive along the water Naallas which falls on the way to Gramphoo. The roads towards Rohtang are really in bad shape. Now drive along Rohtang Pass to enter the beautiful Kullu valley. Overnight stay in Manali.
Day 9: Manali to Chandigarh (300kms) Post breakfast, drive along the NH 22 to get to the city beautiful Chandigarh.
